SW Women In Business
by Melanie Cowie

It was great to be invited to the South West Women In Business event at China Fleet Country Club, Cornwall, this month. With so many events being held virtually or through hybrid facilities over these Covid times, it’s great to be back out there again!

The networking and seminar was arranged by Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce along with South West Women in Business to host an event based around the menopause from the angle of an employer and HR processes surrounding this issue.

Menopausal women are the fastest-growing workforce demographic. Therefore, it makes sense that forward-thinking organisations recognise the importance and value of introducing menopause policies and guidance, raising awareness of menopause and putting the right support in place.

A special thank you to all the great presenters below who provided some interesting and educational talks, initiating lots of questions and conversation. It was very well received with a lot of follow-on activity across all social media channels. Plus, thank you to China Fleet and Debbie Lyons for sponsoring the event at the Club.

Guest speakers:

  • Carolyn Giles, Head of People & Operations, Plymouth City Bus and Director at SWWIB
  • Jane Sargeant, Healthcare Account Manager, Nuffield Health
  • Helena White, Head of HR Services at Delt Shared Services.
  • Nikki Harris, Owner, Women’s Hormone Health
  • Plymouth University
